1lb Ground Beef 1lb Ground Pork 1 28oz can Plum Tomatoes 6 oz can Tomato Paste ½ Cup Red Wine 1 15 oz can Chicken Broth 4 slices Bacon 1 med. Onion 2 stalks Celery 2 Carrots 3 cloves Garlic 1 tsp Italian Seasoning 1 tsp Salt 1 tsp Black Pepper 1 Tbsp Olive Oil Parmesan Cheese Parsley Pasta
In a Dutch oven cook the bacon until it is golden brown. Remove the bacon then set it aside until later. Add one tablespoon of olive oil to the pot and sauté the onions, garlic, celery and carrots for 3 minutes. Now add the ground beef and ground pork to the pot. Season with the salt and pepper. Return the bacon to the pot, add the tomatoes then bring to a light simmer. Add the tomato paste, chicken broth and wine then return to a light simmer. Season with the Italian seasoning then cover and cook for one hour making sure to stir occasionally.
