Candied Yams Recipe

4                Yams/Sweet Potatoes
1 cup         Sugar
1 cup         Golden Brown Sugar
1 Tbsp      Vanilla Extract
1 tsp          Cinnamon
1/4 tsp      Ground Cloves
1/4 tsp      Nutmeg
1/2 cup     Butter

​PreHeat Oven to 350 degrees
 
Slice the yams into 1 inch thick slices and place them in a baking dish.  In a saucepan melt the butter.  Add the brown sugar and granulated sugar and mix until dissolved.  Add the ground cloves, nutmeg and cinnamon and mix.  Add the vanilla and mix.  Coat the yam with the mixture then cover with aluminum foil and transfer to the preheated oven and cook for 30 minutes.  After 30 minutes remove from the oven and stir.  Return yams to the oven and allow them to cook for an additional 40 minutes.
