Honey Walnut Shrimp Recipe
1lb Shrimp (peeled and deveined) ½ Cup Cornstarch 1 Egg ½ teaspoon Garlic Salt ½ teaspoon Canola Oil 1/2 teaspoon Baking Soda 2 Tablespoons Water For the Walnuts: ½ Cup Walnuts 1 Tablespoon Butter ½ Cup Brown Sugar ½ Cup Water For the Sauce: 3 Tablespoons Mayonnaise 1 Tablespoon Sweetened Condensed Milk 1 Tablespoon Honey 1 teaspoon Lemon Juice In a frying pan melt the butter then add the walnuts and sauté for four minutes. Remove the walnuts from the pan and set them aside. In the same pan add the water and brown sugar and bring to a boil. Add the walnuts back to the pan and allow the liquid to thicken to a syrup consistency. Remove the walnuts and place them on parchment paper to cool. To make the sauce combine the mayonnaise, lemon juice, honey and sweetened condensed milk and mix well. For the batter, lightly beat one egg. Add the cornstarch, garlic salt, baking powder and canola oil and mix well. Add three tablespoons of water and mix well. Add the shrimp to the batter and coat evenly. Preheat the oil to 350 degrees. Fry the shrimp in small batches for 3 minutes. Increase the oil temperature to 375 degrees. Return the shrimp to the pan and cook for 45 seconds or until it is golden brown. Remove them from the pan and place them on a paper towel to remove the excess oil. Coat the shrimp with the sauce and top with the walnuts and now it is ready to serve. |
