How to Make Salisbury Steak

Salisbury Steak

1 ½ lbs        Ground Beef
1 Tbsp        All-purpose Flour
1 Cup         Onion
1 Cup         Mushrooms
½  Cup       Bread Crumbs
1                 Egg
½ Cup        Beef Broth
1 can          French Onion Soup
1 Tbsp        Worcestershire Sauce
1 Tbsp        Ketchup
½ tsp          Ground Mustard
1 tsp           Garlic Powder
1 tsp           Black Pepper
1 tsp           Salt

Season the ground beef with the ground mustard, garlic powder, salt and pepper.  Now add the bread crumbs and eggs and mix until well incorporated.  Form the ground beef into oval shaped patties then set them aside. In a separate bowl, combine onion soup beef broth, Worcestershire sauce, ketchup and flour.  Whisk until all of the flour has dissolved.  In a frying pan, cook the ground steaks for 5 minutes on each side then remove them from the pan.  Sauté the onions 3 minutes. Add the mushrooms and sauté for an additional 3 minutes. Pour in the gravy mixture and bring to a light simmer. Return the ground steaks to the pan.  Reduce heat to medium low, cover and allow the steaks to cook for 10 minutes.
